SENSORS, TOOLING & INTEGRATION

Sensors & Tooling

Company-owned sonar, USBL positioning, manipulators and subsea tooling supported by experience integrating survey, navigation, tracking, photogrammetry and other project-specific instrumentation.

Reliant Robotics sonar positioning and subsea sensor integration systems

Company-owned capability

More than the ROV vehicle.

Reliant maintains supporting subsea equipment that can be configured around the requirements of the individual project. Equipment selection considers the required task, vehicle, water depth, field of view, positioning requirements, payload, power, communications and operating environment.

High-Resolution Imaging Sonar

Reliant owns real-time imaging sonar systems for low-visibility inspection, navigation, target identification, search, marine construction monitoring and other subsea operations where acoustic imaging provides information beyond the camera view.

USBL Positioning

Reliant owns USBL positioning capability for compatible ROV and project configurations, including vehicle-mounted beacon capability on the VLBV300-6 systems. Positioning configuration, range and required accuracy are confirmed against the project scope.

Manipulators

Manipulator capability ranges from compact VLBV300-6 manipulation to multi-function tooling configurations on the larger Light Work Class SeaRover platform.

ROV Tooling

Project tooling can include cutters, grabbers and specialty end-effectors where mechanically, electrically and hydraulically compatible with the selected ROV and manipulator package.

Scaling & Measurement

Underwater laser scaling equipment can provide visual dimensional reference and standoff information during inspection and documentation work.

Project-Specific Configuration

Payload, buoyancy, hydrodynamic drag, balance, power, data interfaces and vehicle handling are reviewed before sensors or tooling are committed to an offshore project.

Imaging sonar

Acoustic visibility when cameras are not enough.

Reliant operates multiple sonar technologies that can be selected according to range, resolution, field of view, vehicle configuration and the information required by the project.

The VLBV300-6 nominal configuration uses Tritech Gemini 720 multibeam imaging sonar. Reliant also maintains Tritech Micron scanning sonar capability and Teledyne BlueView imaging-sonar equipment for compatible inspection, navigation, search and monitoring applications.

On larger ROV and project configurations, multiple sonar systems can be operated simultaneously. Reliant has field experience combining sonar views with ROV video, navigation and topside monitoring to give operators and project personnel a more complete understanding of the subsea worksite.

Reliant Robotics multiple sonar manipulator and subsea tooling integration

Representative sonar capability

Sonar selected around the mission.

System / capability Representative application
Tritech Gemini 720 multibeam imaging sonar Real-time acoustic imaging, navigation, inspection, search, target recognition and subsea monitoring.
Tritech Micron scanning sonar Compact acoustic imaging, navigation, obstacle awareness and target location on small ROV configurations.
Teledyne BlueView M-series imaging sonar High-resolution real-time imaging for navigation, object identification, construction monitoring, search and close-range inspection.
High-resolution multibeam survey systems Detailed acoustic imaging, measurement and survey applications on appropriate ROV or dedicated subsea platforms.

Manipulators & tooling

Physical interaction when observation is not enough.

Manipulator and tooling requirements vary significantly between inspection, recovery, marine construction and specialty subsea projects. Reliant evaluates the task first and then determines the appropriate vehicle, manipulator and tooling configuration.

SeaRover Multi-Function Manipulators

The Light Work Class SeaRover can support substantial manipulator and tooling configurations for handling, intervention, inspection and marine construction support.

VLBV300-6 Manipulator Capability

Compact manipulator capability provides physical interaction for inspection and light intervention tasks appropriate to the VLBV300-6 vehicle size and payload envelope.

Cutting & Recovery Tooling

Cutters, grabbers and recovery tooling can be incorporated where compatible with the selected manipulator and vehicle configuration.

Marine Construction Support

Tooling and sensor packages can be configured to assist with subsea installation, positioning, observation and verification activities.

Survey & specialty integration

Broader integration experience when the project requires it.

Reliant’s integration experience extends beyond the equipment normally carried by its compact inspection vehicles. Larger ROVs and dedicated subsea platforms can accommodate more extensive survey, navigation and measurement packages when required by the project.

High-Resolution Multibeam

Experience includes systems such as Kongsberg M3 high-resolution multibeam for detailed acoustic imaging, measurement and survey applications.

Survey-Grade Navigation

Integration experience includes Sonardyne SPRINT-Nav, OCTANS-class gyro/navigation packages and DVL/inertial navigation systems.

Pipe & Cable Tracking

Project configurations have included Innovatum and Teledyne TSS equipment for detecting and tracking subsea pipelines, cables and umbilicals.

Photogrammetry & 3D Measurement

Subsea photogrammetry systems such as SubSLAM can support project-specific dimensional measurement, modeling and detailed documentation.

Sound-Velocity Instrumentation

AML and related oceanographic instrumentation can be integrated where acoustic performance, survey quality or environmental measurement requires it.

Customer-Specified Payloads

Specialty cameras, sensors and other subsea instrumentation can be evaluated for mechanical, electrical, communications and data-interface compatibility.

Platform selection matters: not every sensor or survey package is appropriate for every ROV. Reliant evaluates payload, buoyancy, hydrodynamic drag, power, communications, vehicle stability and the required project deliverable before recommending an integration approach.

Operational integration

Information brought together at the surface.

Subsea instrumentation is most useful when the information reaches the project team in a form that supports real-time decisions. Reliant has experience operating multiple simultaneous ROV camera, sonar, positioning and navigation displays during offshore work.

ROV video + imaging sonar
ROV + USBL positioning
Multiple simultaneous sonar displays
Manipulator + sonar-assisted operations
Construction monitoring and placement support
Survey/navigation data integration
Pipe and cable tracking
Photogrammetry and specialty measurement
